Swan City September Academy is open to all skaters, especially those working toward USFS Tests in skating skills, singles, and ice dance. Ice is available throughout clinic hours for private lessons with guest or home coaches. On-ice and off-ice Specialty Classes will be offered, taught by guest coaches. While all skaters are welcome to participate, Academy offerings are most geared toward skaters in Freeskate levels and above.

Fall Academy Specialty Group Classes
from $25.00

During the Swan City Fall Academy, two on ice and two off ice classes will be offered throughout the day. These group classes will be taught by one of our guest coaches and will cover a variety of skills. Skaters may participate in any class individually or choose to take all classes as a bundle. Recommended for skaters in Pre-Freeskate and up.

Skaters only participating in the specialty classes still need to pay the $40 Academy registration fee to help offset coach travel expenses. If skaters are already registered for ice time/private lessons during Academy, then their registration fee is already paid. You do not need to pay the registration fee twice.

If fewer than 20 skaters register for group classes, the high and low groups may be combined at the director’s discretion.

SWAN CITY FALL CLINIC GUEST COACHES

  • COLLIN BRUBAKER

    Collin Brubaker is a Chicago based Ice skating Coach. He specializes in skating skills, ice dance, and Choreography and has taken many years of skating knowledge and competitive experience and shared it with other skaters and programs around the world. From starting out with small local competitions to eventually skating on the US National Team, he quickly realized his passion for skating and desire to help others achieve their goals in the sport and their everyday lives. After his competitive career retirement in 2015, he completed his degree at Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor degree in Communications and a minor in Finance. Post graduation, he began to slowly transition into a coaching role, shadowing former Olympic coaches and previous coaches he had taken from in earlier years. Since then, he has had national medalists and former skaters who recently competed at the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy and In addition, he continues to work with outside performing art companies such as Ice Dance International (IDI) and ITNY (Ice theatre of New York) where he serves as a performer as well as consultant and assistant.

  • ANGIE VANDERMISSEN

    Originally from Michigan, Angie spent 12 years as a Principal Soloist and Choreographer for Royal Caribbean’s Ice Show productions and toured six times with Broadway on Ice. She also served as Principal Soloist, Assistant Choreographer, and Performance Director for Kaleidoscope at Ocean Park Hong Kong, where her collaboration with two-time Emmy winner Sarah Kawahara helped earn the show the 2016 IAAPA Brass Ring Award. Additionally, she performed in Opera Festival on Ice in Muscat, Oman, accompanied by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Angie also worked as Assistant Choreographer for the Miami of Ohio Synchronized Skating Team alongside Sarah Kawahara in 2014-2015.

    A U.S. Figure Skating Double Gold Medalist and the 2001 National Collegiate Figure Skating Champion, Angie trained under a competitive scholarship at the Detroit Skating Club.

    Beyond the ice, Angie has an extensive dance background and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness Management.

    Passionate about coaching both figure skaters and hockey players of all levels, Angie blends her expertise in skating and dance to inspire movement, technique, and creativity.

  • BRITTYNI CARLSON

    Brittyni comes to Beaver Dam with 21 years of coaching experience and 5 years professionally as a skater. She currently is a staff coach at Shattuck St Mary’s School, including their nationally recognized summer camp, and she is the coach of the University of Minnesota Intercollegiate figure skating team. She is also a guest coach for the American Ice Theatre of Minneapolis Seminar.

    Prior to beginning her coaching tenure, Brittyni spent 5 years performing as a professional ice skater, in which 4 of those years included touring and skating in Europe with Holiday on Ice. She trained at the International Skating Academy in Utretcht, Netherlands, and trained adagio/pairs skating in Australia with Olympic coaches.

    Her testing credentials include achieving her USFS Gold Freeskate test, USFS Gold Skating Skills test, USFS Gold Dance test, USFS Gold Solo Freedance test, and USFS Preliminary Pairs Test.

    In addition to her credentials as a coach and professional skater, Brittyni has 5 years teaching experience in aerial arts specializing in lyra, silks, hammock, and pole. She is a Certified Cirqfit Lyra instructor and a professional lyra skating specialty act performer. Experience as an ACE certified personal trainer.

  • MARCIE KIERPIEC

    Marcie brings 40 years of coaching experience. She is a Junior National Coach who spent 19 years in Delaware as a staff professional at both the University of Delaware Training Center and the Skating Club of Wilmington and now resides in Michigan. She has to her credit US and Canadian Gold Dances, Senior and Junior International Dances, Novice Freestyle, Silver Free Dance, 6th Figure and is a certified Level 5 hockey coach with USA Hockey. Marcie coaches all levels of dance, skating skills, and P.O.W.E.R. Hockey, and specializes in the latter two disciplines. She is also available to partner for compulsory dance tests.  In addition to her skating and coaching credentials, Marcie holds both a BA (Michigan State University, ’91) and MA (West Chester University, ’11) in French. She also attained a BS degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in strength and conditioning at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. In addition to coaching figure skating at various camps in Michigan and Wisconsin, she is a full-time skating specialist for hockey associations in lower Michigan and off-ice strength coach for individual hockey players.

  • KENNY ECKERT

    Kenny is a USFS compliant coach with 15 years of skating experience, having worked with world renowned coaches such as Igor Shpilband, Pasquale Camerlango, and Natalia Deller. Kenny is a four time US National competitor, and has competed on the Junior Grand Prix circuit for Team USA. He has passed through Senior Moves in the Field and Gold Pattern Dances.

  • ELENA RODRIGUES

    Elena Rodrigues is a USFS Gold Medalist in Freestyle, Moves, Dance, and Solo Free Dance and has passed all International Dances. She has 16 years of teaching experience, has been on the coaching staff for the Eagle River and Michigan Tech summer skating school since 2013, and currently coaches at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, WI. She specializes in teaching all levels of freestyle, choreography, and moves in the field but has also had much success coaching skaters throughhigh-level ice dance tests. She now holds a sectional technical specialist appointment for synchronized skating. She has passed the Registered free skate and Registered moves in the field exams through the PSA. She is also a coach to Regional competitors at the qualifying level. She is the Wisconsin FSC Learn to Skate Director and the Head Coach of the Wisconsin Edge Synchronized Skating teams. As a skater, Elena was an ISU Junior World, ISU Four Continents, and Winter University Games competitor. Elena earned a BS in Kinesiology and Health from Miami University with a double minor in Coaching and Management and Organizations where she competed for both the Miami University Synchronized Skating program and the Intercollegiate Freestyle Team. Elena also has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

  • Mary Noffke

    Mary Spencer Noffke is an ice dancing pro who loves teaching skaters of all ages! A former regional, sectional and national collegiate competitor at the junior level in ice dance and a national competitor in synchronized skating, Mary trained across the U.S., learning from former Olympians and Olympic-level ice dance coaches. 

    As a coach, Mary has worked with regional, sectional and national competitors in ice dance, stroking and presentation. She has trained skaters in all levels of pattern dance and solo free dance, working with both testers and competitors. Off ice, Mary has studied many styles of dance and has been a competitive ballroom dancer for more than 30 years. She also wrote and edited skating magazines and is the co-author of Artistry on Ice with Nancy Kerrigan. She recently joined the Swan City Ice Skaters coaching team.
